The Bridgnorth Walk is about raising money for charity.
2011 Benefactors
In 2011 we raised over £120,000 for local and national charities and organisations. To see a list of all the charities and organisations that benefited in 2011 click Charities.
You are expected to gain sponsorship for taking part in the Walk.
You will be supplied with a sponsorship form after you have entered.
You can also use an online fundraising website but please include these monies as a summary line on your sponsorship form. We can then include this in the total money you have raised as there are prizes for highest sponsorship money raised. Please be aware some websites charge an admin fee.
Some of your sponsorship money needs to be paid to the Bridgnorth Walk otherwise you will not be contributing to the running costs of the Walk
Distribution of Money Raised
On completion of the Walk all monies raised should be paid in to the walk nominated bank using the paying in slip provided
A percentage of the money (usually 10%) is set aside to cover: - organisational expenses, - small donations to charities on behalf of individuals and organisations who helped stage the Walk, and - donations to local charities and Projects requiring support, as chosen by the Organising Committee.
The remainder is distributed back to the teams as a cheque to pass on to their charities.
Cheques are distributed at the annual Walk Presentation Evening. See Walk Awards for more details.
Qualifying charities and organisations
Any local or national charity or charitable organisation including Schools, Churches, Sports Clubs and Voluntary Community Projects are eligible. If you are in any doubt whether your organisation qualifies, contact us.
Gift Aid
Some charities will qualify for Gift Aid. On the Sponsor Form you can identify which sponsors are UK taxpayers and wish to have gift aid applied to their sponsorship. Make sure you have postcodes from these sponsors. Claims for reimbursement of Gift Aid are made by the Charity. After the Walk, when you have collected your sponsorship money, you will need to send your sponsorship form, along with the cheque received from the Walk, to your charity to enable them to claim Gift Aid. Team Leaders should co-ordinate this for their teams.
